Nainital Lake
Nestled in the Kumaon Hills of Uttarakhand lies Lake Naini, a freshwater gem surrounded by the town of Nainital. Legend has it that it was created by a sage, but science suggests a tectonic origin. Originally nearly circular, landslides gave it a fascinating three-kilometer-long crescent shape.

Nainital Zoo
The Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo, also referred to as the Nainital Zoo, is a well-liked tourist attraction situated in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, in the town of Nainital.
This historic temple of Goddess Naina Devi is situated on the northern edge of Naini Lake. Being one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, it draws a large number of tourists and devotees.
Point of View of Snow:
This viewpoint, which is reachable via cable car, provides sweeping views of the Himalayan peaks covered in snow, namely Nanda Devi, Trisul, and Nanda Kot. It’s a must-go to see the beautiful scenery.
Nanda Devi
- At 7,816 metres, Nanda Devi is the second highest peak in India and is highly regarded for both its spiritual significance and spectacular beauty. Situated in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, it is a part of the Garhwal Himalayas. Hindu mythology and culture revere the summit, which bears the goddess Nanda Devi’s name.
- Established in 1982, Nanda Devi National Park features a rich and diversified ecology. It was later joined with the Valley of Flowers National Park to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Several threatened species, including the Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, and blue sheep, find refuge in the park. Naina peak

Kaichi dham Nainital Lake
- Located in the foothills of Kumaon, Kainchi Dham is a spiritual sanctuary about 18 km from Nainital. Founded in the 1960s by the revered Neem Karoli Baba, it attracts devotees seeking blessings and spiritual guidance.
- The name “Kainchi Dham” means “Holy Place of Scissors”, referring to its location between two hills resembling open scissors. The tranquility of the ashram is further enhanced by its picturesque surroundings with rolling hills, a tranquil river and green trees.
- Kainchi Dham is a sacred place for spiritual practice. Devotees sing hymns, meditate and take part in satsangs (spiritual talks). The ashram is also known for its charitable activities, providing free food and medical care.
- Beyond its spiritual importance, Kainchi Dam has become a popular tourist destination. Celebrities such as Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg are rumored to visit, adding to its mystique. Tuesdays are particularly special, drawing larger crowds. The annual fair, held every year on June 15th, fills the ashram with vibrant festivities.
